A few beers, laughs and maybe one or two shots will go on. Ultimately you will let the night decide. Then you will remember that you had committed to lose weight and do not want to throw all that effort overboard. One day is one day, but you should follow these tips for before, during and after alcohol ingestion. You will not even notice the difference: You’ll enjoy just as much, and also the collateral damage of alcohol will be minimized.

Eat before and not after going out.
The way you drink affects you, and an awful lot. Alcohol, if it’s drunk on an empty stomach gets to the bloodstream faster and precipitates their effects, which can reach its peak between half an hour and two hours after consumption. However, when drinking after eating, the side effects of alcohol are minimized. Also, when we do not eat well before and during the party night, chances are that the first thing you will do when you get home is raiding the fridge. Even late in the morning, you will feel an irrepressible urge to kill all the leftovers in your refrigerator.
The best way to rehydrate yourself overnight is to take a glass of water between each alcoholic drink and another before bedtime.
In this sense, a study from the Indiana University published in the “Obesity“ journal ensures that drinking too much alcohol can cause the brain to get more sensitive towards certain food stimuli, such as smell. Thus, these nocturnal cravings become irresistible and will end up in eating too much. So try to minimize the effect by eating properly before the party instead of after going out.
Be careful with the amount of drinks you have.
It is easy to get carried away when you’re in a bar having a good time with your friends. You start with a simple beer and ends up like the world is going to end: one after another and after another until you lose count. When a patient with a similar situation is presented, nutritionists usually recommend self-control.
Be aware of how much you drink and how this affect the body, and do not exceed the ten alcoholic drinks per week. Not only because its consumption is related with the weight gain (especially if it’s done regularly and meets sedentary lifestyle and genetic predisposition), but also because is the modifiable risk factor that generates more diseases.
Keep yourself hydrated
Alcohol is a diuretic and as such it makes you lose more fluid than the amount you consume. Henceforth, it is of utmost importance that you keep drinking water throughout the night, before going out and before going to bed.
