  • Mythology

For the Romans, Juno was the goddess of marriage. The month of June takes its name after this goddess and it was a common belief that the goddess blessed the couples with happiness and prosperity if they married in June.

  • Poor Hygiene

In medieval times, regular showers were rather scarce and people’s annual bath –yes, I know- happened usually in spring, around May or June. Therefore, those who married in June would still be fresh and smelling good. Nevertheless, just to be safe, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide their body odor.

  • Farming Duties

Back in the days when agricultural work was king, getting married in June was one of the many ways of family planning. A June wedding would allow couples to time conception in a way that birth labor wouldn’t interfere with the work in the fields.

  • Weather

Spring usually starts in May and generally, summer doesn’t start until late July. Which gives people a window of 1-2 months to get married whilst the weather is sunny enough to celebrate outdoors yet fresh to enjoy being under the sun. Not to mention that logistics run smoother when you don’t have to fight the weather.

  • Flowers

Everything blooms and flourishes in spring. However, for some flowers, May could be quite early. Henceforth, June offers the most variety.

  • Fashion

For those who want to sport more casual styles or simply a more relaxed wedding, June is kind of perfect as the weather allows you to go for a shorter dress and lighter styles.

  • Food

It’s no secret that fresh ingredients are more abundant during the spring-summer season than during winter. Therefore, the menus and food offering are more varied and feature a lot more options.

  • The Scenery

Most people are into outdoorsy wedding pictures with lots of green and blooming around, which gets quite difficult during winter.
