Back in the day, it was popular to sell baseball cards NJ in cigarette packs. This started in the 1880βs but stopped after World War 1. This is because after the war, it was banned to sell tobacco to children. Since many of the buyers of these cards were children, this new rule impacted the baseball card business. In addition, it wasnβt a good image to sell baseball cards NJ with tobacco. When it was happening, however, there was a famous set that was created when they were selling baseball cards in cigarette packs.
This set is called the T206 set. It was created in 1909 and distributed all over the United States. The T206 set had over 524 different cards. It is one of the most popular pre-war collections and had over 370 million cards printed. Although many cards were printed, though, many were discarded by smokers who didnβt want the cards. Today, there are an estimated 1.5 to 3.0 million cards that still exist.
Since there are so many cards out there, this means that there are many cards that are easy to find. You can even find some of the cards for 5 or 10 dollars. Because of their availability and price, it caused so many collectors to start their T206 card collection. Since so many people did the same, it caused some of the cards to become a lot more valuable, as some were rarer than others.
This brings us to the 1909 T206 Honus Wagner card. Since this collection is so popular, youβd never guess how much this card is actually worth. Give me a drumroll pleaseβ¦. This card was sold for over 3 million dollars! The reason that this card is worth so much can be thanked to Wagner himself. This is because he banned the American Tobacco Company from selling this card, so only 50 cards were ever sold.
For those of you that started our T206 card collection, you may not have known how expensive it can really be to complete this collection. If you havenβt added to your collection in a while and youβre ready to sell baseball cards, you may get a pretty penny for your T206 set!
