3 Things You Should Do Before Selling Baseball Cards

When you’re ready to sell baseball cards for the first time, you may feel intimidated by the process.  Since it’s your first time, you probably won’t know how to meet buyers or how much to even sell your cards for.  Before you make a sale, there are three things that you should do: preventative maintenance, research, and consider who you want to sell to.

Preventative Maintenance

One of the factors that determines the price of a card is it’s condition.  Even if you have a card that is highly valued among collectors, it could be worth less if it’s not well maintained.  That’s why from the moment that you purchase a card, to the moment you sell it, you should be making sure that it’s well taken care of.  You can do this by keeping it out of direct light (so it doesn’t fade), putting it in protective covers, and making sure it’s stored in a safe place.

Do Your Research

A big mistake that some sellers make is to blindly sell without really knowing how much their cards are worth.  Before making a sale, consider the market.  Is it highly sought after among collectors?  Can you find a lot of the same card in the market?  Is yours in better condition than other sellers?  And most importantly, how much are other sellers selling their card for?  All of these questions will give you a better idea of how much your card is worth.

Be Cautious of Who You Sell To

It will be exciting when you start getting offers for your cards; before accepting, though, consider who you want to sell to.  The reason being is that there will always be scammers online, and sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart from the rest.  In addition to having risks, selling online takes time; you have to create a profile, write descriptions of your cards, take pictures of them, and negotiate with buyers.

The best companies to sell baseball cards to are the ones that have years of experience in the industry and have a long list of past customers that have given them great reviews.  Before making a sale, take your time and do your research.
