The World of Vintage Baseball Cards

Selling my sports card collection ct was the best thing I did. I am happy with my sale because I have chosen the right marketplace: American Legends. The company has extensive experience in the market, with more than 30 years in selling and buying baseball cards. Baseball cards that were printed from 1946 and up to 1979 fall into the Vintage cards section. Here, we can include huge players such as Roberto Clemente, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, or Henry Aaron. Being in extremely close competition with Fleer and Leaf or Bowman, Topps managed to finally dominate this intense period. During this period, there were a few black & white photography cards, but the period was characterized by gorgeous colored artwork on these cards.

The famous 1957 Topps set of baseball cards set the trend for the standard sports card dimensions that we are so well acquainted with today (2.5″ x 3.5″). Like the Pre-War cards the Hall of Fame Vintage cards are easily worth thousands of dollars, provided they are in good condition. Even baseball cards of less-known players are worth a lot, but their general condition is highly important.

You can easily identify the production year on a Vintage card since the date is printed on the reverse of the card. In case the year is not printed, you can still find out the period by checking the last year that is shown in the stats list. Once you found the year, add +1 because the card was issued the next year. If you can see on the reverse of the card that the last stat line is 1958 for example, then you know that the card was produced in the upcoming year- 1959.
